Barbara Allen RUA is a Belfast-based artist best known for her accomplishment in watercolour and has built up a reputation for brisk, fresh work on paper with a quirky take on the vernacular architecture and coastal ephemera of the Irish Atlantic seaboard.

Of particular interest to her is the uninhabited island of Inishlacken, which she visits frequently in the company of artists on the Inishlacken Project, organised by fellow Royal Ulster Academy member, and Lavelle Gallery artist, Rosie McGurran RUA.
