Claire was born in Dublin and trained as a ceramic restorer, working in London, Paris and Istanbul over the past twenty five years. She began to make her own ceramics a decade ago when a friend put a lump of clay into her hands and asked her to make something. Claire is inspired by the everyday things in nature that surround her, be it a fish, a piece of bark or a shiny chestnut. Form and texture are important to her so the texture of the clay and the glaze all play a part in the final piece. She works mostly in stoneware and uses the method of slabbing or coiling to create her distinctive organic forms.
