Born in Dublin in 1952, James Brohan studied painting and anatomy under the direction of Yann Goulet RHA from 1985-86. He subsequently studied under the guidance of Liam Treacy from 1986-87. It is from these early beginnings that Brohan’s style has evolved over the years. He continued his education later at the National College of Art and Design under Des Carrick RHA. Brohan’s paintings are about colour rather than tone and the ability to capture subtle nuances of light. His figurative works express small moments in time that often involve fluently articulated movement and human emotion.
